I'm back! We've been fighting colds, asthma attacks & a stomach virus on & off since the week before Christmas. Hopefully by the end of this week, AJ will win the battle over his cold and we will be done with all these germs! I hope, whatever holiday you celebrated, you enjoyed it and spent it with people you care about! Despite our illnesses, Christmas was very nice.
We spent Christmas Eve at my in-laws and then Christmas day with my family. Once my sisters & I get together we definately don't act our ages! I'm not sure who were the "kids" that day! I think we may have even scared our future sis-in-law!
We thought it would be nice for the kids to decorate cookies when things calmed down after dinner & the gifts. Dani & I were definately wearing more icing than we ate! Of course Mom had to come in & supervise when we started getting out of hand & kept it from turning into a real food fight!
Luckily it was family, because there was quite a bit of double dipping in the icing & sprinkles - by the handfuls! My niece liked the rainbow sprinkles best!
Quite a creative bunch of cookies! You should have seen the floor! I can't wait to scrap these!
On to a less messier topic... This year we gave out Beer Bread mixes for holiday gifts and teacher gifts. I bookmarked a website a while ago about cooking in a clay flower pot & was hooked. We tried it out over the summer & liked the outcome. They say it works best with yeast breads, but I tried a muffin mix & it turned out good too!
So that was our gift this year! A clay flower pot & a pkg of beer bread mix. *note - do not try to find flower pots in December - it aint easy! I hit 5 walmarts before I found some hidden in the back of a shelf!
Of course I just couldn't hand them a flower pot, so I made a sleeve for them. Here is a side view.
I used Chocolate Chip & Baja Breeze cardstock for the sleeve. It slid on & off the side. The top was made like a large square card, with a smaller card in the middle to write in. I topped that with a large sizzix snowflake. The saying & small snowflake were stamped in White Craft ink. Here is a top view.
Well that is all for now. The kids are still home for Christmas break - so I am not getting any stamping done :( Maybe by the weekend, we'll see.
Wishing you all good health & happiness in the upcoming year!
Have a happy new year!
